| All Custom Mouthpieces Are Not Created Equal. The original concept behind mouthpiece customizing is to create a unique mouthpiece that gives the player the ultimate in performance and a sound that is exprssive and complimentary to the player's style . The player communicates his preferences to the customizer who then designs a mouthpiece for that player's particular needs. There are still many great customizers who uphold this tradition, but in more recent years we are seeing many mouthpieces that are called "custom" or "hand made" but are actually machine made mouthpieces that receive very little or no hand work at all. These are "cookie-cutter" mouthpieces. two or three different models, but all of the mouthpieces of each model are basically the same. You pay anywhere from $120.00 to $750.00 (and more) for a machine-made mouthpiece. Some are better than others, but still you are not getting a unique, one of a kind, custom made piece that is specifically designed to your specific preferences. Jary Custom does not sell any machine made mouthpieces. Each mouthpiece is individually all hand made, one at a time. No machines, no hype. No stock photos and descriptions used over and over. Synthetic Reeds You can use cane or synthetics on any Jary Custom Mouthpiece, but there will be tone differences that you may or may not like when you switch between cane and synthetics. You can request your Jary Custom mouthpiece specifically designed for optimal sound and performance with the synthetic reed of your choice. I can adjust the baffle, facing and other features to create the specific degree of brightness. warmth, power, projection or whatever you want from your synthetic reed. You would be amazed by how many great players use and love synthetic reeds. The late/great Nick Brignola introduced me to synthetic reeds. Many years ago he played Bari brand synthetics then switched to Fibracell Premiers. I also recommend Legere and the Hartman Carbon Fiberreeds, among others. All Procedures Work In Harmony All Jary Custom baffles, chambers, facings and other custom features are custom designed to work together to produce a mouthpiece that will blow you away! No matter how bright and edgy or dark and warm you want it, you always get a rich, vibrant core sound that is not thin or overly bright. Plating Services I use a professional dip plating system. I can replate virtually any mouthpiece and make it look 100% better. However, it can be very difficult to totally restore used mouthpieces to their original pefect condition.This is because it would be neccessary to remove too much metal, along with all or part of the engraving to remove all nicks and other surface imperfections. Stripping old plating is also very time consuming. However. Even if your new plating is not pefect it is guaranteed to be a huge improvement. |

Hand customizing and hand finishing is a rapidly disappearing art among todays mouthpiece makers. Due to time, personell and other cost limitations mouthpiece makers are forced to reduce hand finishing procedures and eliminate all individual custom work in order to meet production demands. |
| It is impossible for the big makers to hire and train enough skilled personell to custom hand work every mouthpiece in a production line environment. Even many of the more popular high dollar mouthpieces come from a production line environment where there is very little or no time for hand finishing. Some makers started out doing a lot of hand work, but as soon as they became popular they went into mass production and more often than not, much of the quality is lost. And you are still paying top dollar for a mass produced sound. This is why Jary Custom gives you a superior mouthpiece.
